Faculty Grant Writing Institute

MU's Office of Research will sponsor the seventh Faculty Grant Writing Institute this summer. The Institute assists faculty in developing high quality extramural grant proposals in order to yield more grant awards. The small group setting of the Institute enables individualized attention and informal conversations that develop positive relationships among participants and between the participants and the various grants personnel who support them. This year's application process reflects the following changes from previous years:

  • No stipends or proposal development budgets will be provided to participants.
  • No cost match will be required of the participants' divisions and/or departments.
  • Participants will not be required to devote full-time effort to the Institute during the month of June.

The instructional and networking aspects of the Institute will remain unchanged. The fundamental difference will be that participation in the Institute will no longer be coupled with funding and protected research time during June. We hope that these changes will make it easier for chairs and deans to support faculty participation in the Institute and that the increased flexibility as to when the proposal development tasks and preliminary research work are done will make it easier for faculty members to participate. Questions regarding the Institute or the application process should be referred to Mary Licklider at 884-6438 or lickliderm@missouri.edu.
